Game Notes | Plant (Fla.) @ Manatee (Fla.)

The Plant (Fla.) Panthers went into Bradenton, Florida Friday night for a preseason tilt against a Manatee (Fla.) Hurricanes team they beat for the 5A state championship last winter. TR's Charles Drake was on hand to scout the game as Manatee took the challenge personally and overwhelmed Plant with speed and athleticism to win the rematch 48-10. Clemson keeps stockpiling running backs... Speedy coupled with Marlin Lane (though still taking visits) is a very impressive haul. Both Florida running backs are top 5 in-state when healthy. Bellamy adds a dimension not many players do -- he can take it the distance on any given play. Questions abound about grades and qualifying hurdles to get Mike into Clemson, but I'm under the impression he should be ok after speaking with some familiar with his situation.

It followed a path that had about as many curves and bends as an excited fireplace poker, but you can rest assured that the trip is almost complete. Plus, the thinking from this corner is that there likely won’t be enough suspense filled moments left to trigger so much as a gnawed on hangnail from Buckeye nation. Story

Sporting an opinion | USC sanctions

The dust has settled (for now) on USC after the NCAA showed them the power of their pimp hand which included a loss of 30 scholarships over 3 years, two year bowl ban, 4 years probation and a possible loss of their '04 title.

Ever since he showed up and showed out at the Columbus NFTC at Ohio State where he took home LB MVP honors, he’s been in high demand.
