Thoughts on the commitment
Clemson’s incredible roll on the recruiting trail
continued with the addition of Peake…one of the top WR
prospects in the entire country. Charone finally pulled
the trigger for Clemson over offers from Georgia,
Florida, Southern Cal and countless others. Reminiscent
of another top WR out of SC, Peake has drawn comparisons
to Summerville’s AJ Green and like Green at Georgia,
Charone should have an immediate impact in the Tigers’
offense. He is a prototypical #1 WR and is simply a
game-changer. He’s just as dangerous on short passes and
screens as he is as a down-field threat and is also
comfortable (and dangerous) as a Wildcat QB. Peake must
be accounted for at all-times, no matter where he lines
up and has been labeled by many as a “can’t miss”
prospect. He will remind Tiger fans of recent Clemson
greats Rod Gardner and Aaron Kelly.
Scouting Report
Peake is a remarkably smooth athlete with great size,
hands and ball-skills. As a long-striding, two-stepper,
he has the speed to run by defenders, yet also possesses
the agility and short area quickness to make plays in
confined spaces…qualities that are very rare in tall
WRs. He is a great leaper with outstanding body control
and concentration. Has a huge catching radius and
understands how to position his body to shield defenders
and grab the ball at it‘s highest point. Excellent at
tracking the ball and adjusting to it in the air. Plays
in a run-first offense and as a result, is a willing and
able blocker on the perimeter. Charone has a knack for
getting open and is a good route-runner that will only
improve with coaching. He’s a hard worker both on the
field and off. Mentally ready and capable to play
immediately, but may need to add some bulk to his frame.
For
Kiehl Frazier, the awards, and scholarship offers, keep
on coming. The 6’3” 210 pound star signal-caller from
Arkansas’ Shiloh Christian was just recently named the
2009 4A Arkansas Player of the Year. The next morning,
TCU offered him a scholarship. It was the 14th offer for
Frazier already.
November 23rd, 2004 was
an exciting day in Columbia, South Carolina. A
day filled with hope and anticipation of what
was to come. The Gamecocks had just inked a SEC
coaching legend to coach their football team.
The "Fun 'n' Gun" was coming to save the day or
at least make it better. Surely a coach that led
Duke University to an ACC title could fix the
little problems at South Carolina.
With the 2010 recruiting cycle inching towards
the finish line, here at ThaRinger we feel it’s
a better time to more clearly evaluate the
off-season’s coaching changes with the recently
gained recruiting hindsight. There were 22 head
coaching changes and not all of those changes
were created equally.
