Grant is a fiery competitor that plays the game with
great intensity and passion and with a violent
disposition. He has excellent size and frame that could
develop into a prototypical LB body. His skills are
exceptional. A very instinctive LB, Grant reads,
processes, and reacts to what he sees very quickly and
has frightening closing speed once he locks in on his
target. Takes good angles in pursuit. He shows very good
technique for a player at this stage as he stays low,
keeps his feet underneath him and his shoulders square
to the line of scrimmage, maintains gap integrity, and
is a sure tackler. Sheds and absorbs blocks very well
and rarely gets caught up in the wash. While Grant is
athletic, he relies more on his reads and instincts in
coverage and gets good depth in his drops. Intelligent
football player with the passion, motor, and
understanding of schemes to be a leader on defense. Very
physical.
Translation to College:
Very well put together physically, but has a lot of room
to grow. Could contribute as a freshman provided he can
put on the mass. Once he fills out his frame and refines
his technique, Grant could be a monster. Projects best
as an inside linebacker because of his size, skill-set,
and leadership qualities.
